UNISON Branch and workplace

Getting involved in a branch

An effective branch needs active members. There are lots of ways to get involved - through the branch's workplace organisation (link to 2 above) or through branch self organised groups for women, black members, lesbian and gay and disabled members.Members are encouraged to be involved in the aspects of the branch that they are interested in, and to give as much or as little time as they are happy with.

  • Does your branch have any self organised groups?
  • Talk to your colleagues. What are the issues in your workplace that are of greatest concern to you all? Can you arrange to meet with your steward or workplace rep to talk about how to take the issue forward?
